Manning River, NSW, Australia: The mighty Manning River is the only double-delta river system in the Southern Hemisphere, which means the river has two outlets flowing into the ocean. From its beginnings high up in the mountains of the Great Dividing Range, the river covers a total length of 261km. The Manning River winds through rural towns and quiet riverside homesteads to the west, before changing scenery to flow through the urban terrain of Taree and out into the ocean near the discreet seaside villages of both Old Bar and Harrington. A quiet and peaceful paddle sure to enlighten the senses, leaving you with a feeling of accomplishment.

WHERE • Nearest Major City: Sydney, NSW The Manning River is located on the New South Wales Mid-North Coast near the township of Taree, 246km / 153miles North of the Sydney CBD. ROUTE • Wingham to Harrington DISTANCE • 46km / 29miles TIME / DAYS • 4 days (3 days paddling) ACCOMMODATION – all pet-friendly • The Bank Guesthouse, Wingham • Artisans On The Hill, Mondrook • Croki Caravan Park, Croki TRANSPORT • Drive to Harrington which is approximately 3½ hours from Sydney by car. • Public Transport: Taxi * Alternatively, if you have the option of two cars, leave one at Harrington and drive the other to Wngham to begin. DAY 1 * Arriving at Wingham ACCOMMODATION • The Bank Guesthouse NOTES • Arrive at Harrington, park your car and and either call a taxi to arrange a pet-friendly taxi driver, or if you have a second car, head to Wingham. • Be sure to visit the lovely cafes and check out the colonial style buildings of Wingham.
DAY 2 • Wingham to Artisans On The Hill Bed & Breakfast DISTANCE • 13km / 8miles ACCESS SITES • Sandy Beach / Wharf, Wingham • Boat Ramp, Tinonee ACCOMMODATION • Artisans On The Hill Bed & Breakfast NOTES • Make sure to grab a bite to eat at The Famous Tinonee Cafe and pick up a treat at the candy store, you’ve earned it after the days paddle. • Artisans On The Hill is filled with incredible artworks from around Australia. Make the time to talk to Peter and get the insights into how the pieces are made. It is very intriguing. When booking, organise a pick up from Tinonee. • There are a few shallow spots on the river between Wingham and Tinonee, but can be easily avoided if on the lookout for them
DAY 3 • Artisans On The Hill Bed & Breakfast to Croki Caravan Park DISTANCE • 20km / 12miles
ACCESS SITES • Boat Ramp, Tinonee • Boat Ramp, Croki ACCOMMODATION • Croki Caravan Park NOTES • Early morning is spectacular at Artisans On The Hill. Listen to the birds and feed the friendly Lorikeets hanging around the Bed & Breakfast. • Stop off at The Other Side Art Cafe for lunch, located just before the Croki Caravan Park. Be careful of the mud on a low-tide, can be a bit tricky. * Check your GPS for an 18km reading.
DAY 4 • Croki Caravan Park to Harrington DISTANCE • 13km / 8miles ACCESS SITES • Boat Ramp, Croki Caravan Park • Sandy Beach, Harrington NOTES • Paddle across the river from Croki Caravan Park and check out the historic Butter Factory which used to produce dairy products in the early 1900’s • When approaching the town of Harrington, there is a small inlet between red and green navigation poles. Make sure to paddle through the poles and head through the inlet to make your trip easier.
